Elna van Niekerk is a researcher, author, and social development practitioner whose work spans road safety, education, and community-based change. After many years specialising in road safety at CSIR Transportek, she shifted her focus to Corporate Social Responsibility projects, working closely with communities. She also plays a leading role in organisations: as CEO of Capasity (Pty) Ltd and; co-founder of the Drama for Change NPO.
With an academic background in philosophy and sociology, and experience as a university lecturer, Elna approaches social issues through both critical thinking and lived experience: she worked as a municipal bus driver for a few years, and: stayed in an isolated mountain area of Wolkberg, by herself, for a few months.
She is a published Afrikaans poet and has implemented participatory Photovoice projects in multiple communities. She participate in the activities of the NPO Drama for Change.
